Postpartum Care: Supporting Moms Beyond Delivery
The moment your baby enters the world is unforgettable. It’s filled with love, awe, and sometimes exhaustion and overwhelm all at once. For months, the focus has been on pregnancy and birth, but what often gets overlooked is the journey that comes next: the postpartum season..."the fourth trimester."
Postpartum isn’t just a few weeks after delivery; it’s a profound transition for mothers that can last months, even years. During this time, a mom’s body, mind, and spirit are working hard to recover, to adapt, and to embrace a completely new rhythm of life.
The Overlooked Season of Motherhood
Too often, the spotlight shifts immediately to the baby while the mother is expected to “bounce back” and carry on. But the truth is, her body is healing, her hormones are shifting, and her emotional world is navigating both joy and challenge. Without the right support, moms can easily feel unseen, isolated, or overwhelmed.
This is why postpartum care matters.
Why Postpartum Care Matters
Physical Recovery: After nine months of carrying a baby and the intensity of delivery, a mother’s body deserves intentional care. Gentle chiropractic adjustments can help restore balance to the spine and pelvis, ease tension, and support the body’s natural healing process.
Emotional Wellbeing: Hormonal changes, disrupted sleep, and new responsibilities can feel heavy. Postpartum care provides not only physical relief but emotional support, reminding moms that they are not alone in the transition.
Connection and Support: A cared-for mom is more resourced to care for her baby. When her needs are seen and valued, she has the energy, peace, and strength to nurture her family well.
My Perspective as a Doula
In addition to being a chiropractor, I am also a certified doula. That role has given me the privilege of walking alongside mothers in some of the most vulnerable and beautiful moments of their lives. I’ve seen firsthand how much difference it makes when a mom feels supported...not pressured, not rushed, but truly cared for.
As a doula, my heart is to remind women that postpartum is not about bouncing back. It’s about giving yourself grace, space, and time to heal. Whether that means practical support, a listening ear, or gentle care for your body, postpartum can be a season of restoration instead of survival.
Supporting Moms Beyond Delivery
At Excelsior, we believe motherhood deserves ongoing support. That’s why we approach care holistically, addressing not only the physical changes but also the emotional and relational challenges that come with this new chapter.
For some moms, that means regular chiropractic care to keep the body aligned and healing. For others, it means encouragement to rest, to ask for help, and to receive care without guilt. And for every mom, it means being reminded: you matter, your health matters, and your story matters.
You Are Not Alone
If you’re in the postpartum season, I want you to hear this: you don’t have to carry it all by yourself. You are not “just a mom now.” You are still you...worthy of care, attention, and love.
Let’s make postpartum about more than survival. Let’s make it a time of healing, joy, and strength.
I am here for you. Reach out any time.
